I am a little confused. The baby has not been born yet, for one, so some of those expenses seem a little trumped up. In addition, in terms of her mortgage and entertainment "budgets," she can do what she did before she married Nas, and spend less. I can understand her having become accustomed to a lavish lifestyle, but she is not entitled to Nas' money -- especially when she is a star in her own right and can get out there and earn money herself.
I understand that Kelis is having Nas' child. This entitles her to some compensation and support. But her now defunct marriage releases Nas from being her personal ATM machine for all eternity.
Kelis is not some trophy wife. Until her marriage, she was an independent woman who made her own name -- and her own cash. Now is the time for Kelis to re-establish her financial independence as a first step towards demonstrating her emotional separation from Nas. Rather than seeking money from him, Kelis can show that she is capable of making it through her own creativity.
Kelis is quoted on TMZ as stating: "My survival is based on [Nas'] will at this time. If he does not want to pay for an expense, it does not get paid." What a sad situation to be in. Many women fall into the trap of marrying a man with more money and status, while letting their own earning power wane. Then, if the marriage fails, their quality of life can be significantly reduced. Kelis needs to use this moment to refuse to let that happen. Rather than going to Nas for a hand out, she can represent for the strong, expressive women out there -- and take a lesson from Kimora who established her own brand identity apart from Russell Simmons.
Kelis -- don't sit back and wait to be taken care of. Take this experience and transform it into an opportunity to show that you are as talented, capable and fierce as you have previously proven yourself to be.
Readers -- should Kelis just move on, or should Nas pay up? Leave your thoughts below!

This is so bad!Kelis is making herself look really bad! Kelis needs to realize that she is getting divorced, and NAS do not owe her anything but child support. She need to realize that she is not Nas wife anymore. So why should he have to pay for her personal affairs? Personally, I would not trust her with the child support money. She would spend it all on herself!
It do not matter to me if she was white, black, or green. I still would feel the same way about this.
Gee, the type of women that these men fall for,and the sad part is Nas should have seen it coming because she quit working.
Well, at least Jay-Z picked a good woman. You don't see Bee spending her man money because she MAKE her own money.
Sad to say that men seem to be afraid of that too.I guess it's score 100 for 50 cent;Nas 0. 50 cent did call Nas a dumbass for marrying the Milkshake that bring all the boyz to the yard, lol. But I think all the boyz have left the yard now after seeing that she want 81,000 a month if you quit her.

No, Kellis shouldn't move on. Yes, she should be an independent woman, but at the same time she was accustomed to a lifestyle that she should maintain. He was her husband, and he earned more than she did, so he should pay. If it was the other way around, she had all the fame and fortune, then he should get paid for the lifestyle he has always known. Why is it that black women are told they're entitled to nothing monetarily when it comes to being supported through alimony and child support. But I don't here a damn word from these black men, whining about Kellis, about all the white women who marry black men for only their money and get really paid after the divorce. Not a peep is heard from black men, but if it's a black woman, she should stand on her own two feet. Please! Kellis, get every dime you can!

"its cheaper to keep her" LOL
[[[[ It should be the same way for men; women must take the abuse and take it. Oh, but Scott Peterson showed the way to end such trains of thought. Murder he did; so do you really think it's cheaper to keep her? In fact, you are the wrong. It is cheaper to leave her. ]]]]

I wish I could have even a tenth of what she is asking. However. I work for a living, always have. But then, I know how to live with less. I think Kelis seriously needs to learn to budget her lifestyle, and downsize certain things. If she's not working, maybe she can watch her own child, instead of using a nanny. I raised four kids with no nanny. It can be done.
