Jackie Ramos is the courageous woman you see here. A former Bank of America employee, she broke the rules while within the organization as a customer service rep to help people who needed assistance with their debts -- even if they did not qualify for the company's leniency programs. Ramos was fired by Bank of America for helping debt-riddled but loyal customers like a 26-year-old cancer patient who just wanted a small break, but wanted to fully repay her debt. Ramos told The Huffington Post:
"She sobbed on the phone telling me she couldn't afford the 30 percent interest... that we had her account on. She couldn't afford the $39 late fee, the $39 over-limit fee. She told me that we were her first credit card when she turned 18, we were her only credit card, and that she was a loyal customer. And given the time to be on this earth a little while longer she would have always remained a loyal customer.
"According to Bank of America, she doesn't have enough income to be put on a program, but she can however keep paying the high interest rates on the account, and fees, because at the end of the day, it is her account, she did rack up the debt, she was late, and she did deserve the 29.99 percent interest rate."
Jackie took to YouTube to voice her feelings about unfair practices such as these that keep Americans in bondage to a sort of debt slavery. Her video is really exposing the unfair practices of large banks, and stirring up a ton of debate on how consumer lending needs to change. On these matters Ramos says, "I feel like there's a real credit problem in this country... Too many people are complacent... Slavery was also legal at one point in time. It was the law. Now we have 30 percent interest rates, $39 late fees and over-limit fees. I want the laws changed. I want the federal government to protect its people and do what it's supposed to do." (Source)
I applaud Ms. Ramos for doing what she believed was right by trying to help Bank of America customers, even if it was not in line with the bank's official guidelines. She also deserves special kudos for speaking up even after being fired, ironically for taking a humane approach to her customer service position. It's amazing how the power of the Web might be just the catalyst that average Americans need to take back their financial power from institutions that are using credit cards and banking fees to enrich themselves with no limitations on the abuse of their power.
Jackie Ramos spills the beans on Bank of America and it's heartless credit policies, which are deliberately engineered to bleed American consumers:

You sound like an ignorant a**hole!! Really-you do? and what you said makes no sense as to what this woman did-at all. These credit card companies are the ones-raising interest rates on their cards whenever they get ready-that wasn't the initial agreement!! give me a break-I think these overly paid CEO"S are the ones who seem to feel they are "entitled" to do what they hell they want after they "originally pull you in with a great offer! I refuse to use cards that do that! I don't close the account-I just set the card aside!! and the comment about re-distributing their money!! Give me a break-that was that woman's money there were trying to steal by way of illegal charges!..You sound like an employee of that company...go back where you came from...where ever that is...

You are a prime example of what this world has come to. Obviously you have not fallen on hard times or ever been in a situation where you needed someone's help. But you Will.

Bank of America actually is the one that is taking and redistributing Americas Money to line their own pockets. Finally their is a small justice.
The CEO and CFO have been INDICTED.
To bad we cant get Billions of Dollars over the last 20 years that has been taken directly out of our accounts with some cockimayme stories or guilt-ridden designed policies.
There is no crime in keeping a zero balance.
Just don't do at Bank of America,...it may cost your your credit history and perhaps your life.

Way to go Jackie!! Every day I hear people complaining about what they don't like about our government and media, but not one of them are willing to put forth an effort to try and change it, especially when it comes to their personal lives. We are as much a slave on a personal level, as our government is to the international bankers. We keep right on using the tool they put out here to control us, credit cards, and we are imprisoned by it.
We are no longer willing to save up to buy something, we have to have it right now, so the Government has made it easy to have what you want without the having to save for it, (CREDIT). Don't you think it's funny that in a land with so much wealth, only 2 PERCENT of the people own their homes? (CREDIT). Do you know 60 PERCENT of Americans have at least 3 Credit cards used to it's maximum? (CREDIT). Do you know that only 1 PERCENT of the people have their car paid for? CREDIT).
To be free, you must throw away your credit cards, and NEVER buy anything that you cannot afford at the moment of purchase. We will never be a free people until we rid ourselves of the burden placed here to control us, and when we stop renting from the powers, the power will cease to exist.

Bank of America's policies appear to be designed to hurt the little guy. In one of their savings plans, if you don't maintain $2500 min balance they charge you a $10 fee for saving your money which they then use virtually free--an extremely low rate of interest. They took over Country Wide and stopped sending out mortgage statements saying you can assess them on line. I am unable to do so. Now I have to make 2 or 3 calls, go to on line chat and still can't assess my account. Their greed is destroying the economy. They would rather sell your mortgage to another than help you
to keep your home. Vicious predators.

Cash is not respected in this country. There is no incentive to save money. Why is such a little bit of money made on savings accounts? How did this come to pass? Since when is credit better than cash? WTF is going on here? I agree with Suzy Orman who says we all should not use credit. We should use cash and if we don't have the money then we can't have it. Period. Go back to the way it used to be. F---k credit. Why is it that you are punished if you close a credit account? WTF is going on here? Wake up America. They want to make us all slaves. Screw them.

I agree! The credit card companies are giving us notice of the coming changes in our terms of agreement. And it's being said that if you opt out and close the card, it hurts your credit score. I say, you're entitled to put a written note on your credit report regarding any issue that is or is not in dispute. Just note that they wanted to raise the rate so high you decided it was better for your family to just close the card out. I believe when you're trying to get credit elsewhere they can look at the note and understand you were trying to save money! Bunch of robbers without guns!
