The Haitian Earthquake: How We can Help

Comments (15)

Given that most people with a heart have a difficult time watching the death and devastation from the Haitian earthquake yesterday, I thought I would suggest some quick ways that we could all get involved. Given that black spending has nearly reached the $1 trillion dollar mark this year, it's time that we realized the power we have to truly change people's lives. The earthquake in Haiti is a great place to start.

Here are some tips you might consider:

1) Give all church tithes for one month to Haiti
- Americans give over $100 billion dollars per year to their churches, with black people being a major chunk of this charge. The $8 billion dollars of diverted church giving for one month would be 8 times the Haitian government's annual budget. What better way to do God's work than to save starving children?

2) Find a reliable charity and give to it regularly: Monthly giving of just $5 per month, per American family would not only be cheaper than a trip to the movies, but it would literally shake the earth beneath the Haitian economy (in a good way) and create prosperity in that nation. Giving should become a key part of your existence.

3) Make fighting starvation as important as global warming: We will fight to save trees and the environment, but forget about the fact that there is enough food to feed every starving child on earth. This should outrage us all. Perhaps we chubby Americans should start sharing some of that food with other people.
