Surprise! Jennifer Hudson is the New Face (and Body) of Weight Watchers

Multi-talented actress and singer Jennifer Hudson just added another title to her resume: Weight Watchers spokeswoman.

According to People magazine, Hudson is taking on the role just months after giving birth to her baby son, 7-month-old David Daniel Otunga Jr., with her fiance, David Otunga.

The 28-year-old Oscar-winning actress told People: "With Weight Watchers, I am enjoying the weight loss because I'm doing it the right way–I feel empowered with what I've learned, everything from portion control to what foods will help keep me satisfied."

"It's a lifestyle change, not a diet," she added.

I say hats off to Jennifer for being willing to put herself out there, promote good health and be a role model for women everywhere.

It's obviously not easy to be in the public spotlight -- especially for celebrities who have to put up with critics, haters and naysayers of all stripes. The pressures on actresses to be thin is enormous. So I wish Jennifer well in her endeavors.

Jennifer probably recognizes that she'll never be a rail thin size 0 or a 2. And needless to say, she doesn't need to come close to that. I think she looks great right now, curves and all. As long as she maintains proper nutrition and a healthy lifestyle, I'm sure she'll do fine -- personally and professionally.

It's also awesome that with this new spokesperson gig, Jennifer will get paid for being her personal best. Ka-ching!

What are your thoughts about Jennifer Hudson's new job? Do you think Weight Watchers made a good pick?
