In this episode of Financial Lovemaking 101, S. Tia Brown and I talk about the dynamics of divorce, using the pending divorces of Tiger Woods and Tiki Barber as talking points. Is there any way to justify leaving your pregnant wife? How does divorce affect children? Does everyone in a marriage deserve a "severance package"?
Why do relationships end so quickly now when compared to the past? Is marriage worth the financial and emotional stress? We discuss these issues and more on the latest episode of Financial Lovemaking.

I think people have become confused about what true wealth is we are selling out our families and believe all is well as long as we have a bank roll and a 401k. How about writing a book about securing your family through love and commitment. How about the lost art of sacrifice because it really is not all about you because you just happen to be the one who makes the bucks!

I would have enjoyed less "discussion" (gossip) about what may or may not be the reasons these men have cheated, and more about the cost, both financially to them and emotionally to their families, of their cheating. In his press conference before the Master's, Tiger spoke movingly about missing his son't 1st birthday...that's a cost. He actively sought to be a role model...a role he has lost...that's a cost. Financially, he may never need to win another golf tournament, but, at this point, that's not why he's playing. At tournaments with less security than at Augusta, is he going to be able to maintain his legendary focus in the face of less polite crowds? Now that his fellow golfers have seen the chink in his armor, are they going to be less intimidated? If he doesn't attain his goal of surpassing Nicholas' record, this will be the reason...
