The media seems to be focusing on successful black women who can't get a man, but this is a trend that cuts across all color lines. A
recent article from WebMD states that single people are the largest growing segment of the population. Plus, the Huffington Post reports that the number of
older, unmarried and educated mothers is on the rise. Celebrity women are echoing these trends, as high profile single moms and bachelorettes. These women will stop to love, but not for it, and they don't need an old-fashioned commitment to feel complete.
Check out Black Voices' list of famous, fabulous and feminine millionaires doing big things... without needing "a ring on it."
Sandra Bullock
The actress won an Oscar for her performance in 'The Blind Side,' but lost her life partner after rumors of his alleged infidelity seemed to be more fact than fiction. Her ultimate comeback? Bullock moved on with her life's plan.
She adopted Louis, a 3-month-old African American boy from New Orleans.
Gabriel Union
The stunner, who frequently graces the big screen in black romantic comedies, has been single and down to mingle ever since her split from ex-husband, former NFL player Chris Howard, in 2006. Union's been linked to an array of stars – most infamously NBA player
Dwyane Wade – but hasn't let anyone tie her down.

Halle Through The Years
'Jungle Fever'
This 1991 Spike Lee film was Berry's film debut. Friends and family of a married black architect (Wesley Snipes) react to his affair with his Italian secretary (Annabella Sciorra). Berry went without makeup to play the role of crack addict Vivian, opposite Samuel L. Jackson's Gator.

The film features a young Sam Rockwell and the R&B group Jodeci right before their musical success.

Wearing a huge blond wig, Berry plays Nisi, a young woman who, along with her friend Mickey (Natalie Desselle-Reid), has dreams of opening the world's first combination hair salon-soul food restaurant. In an unusual turn of events, the pair end up becoming "black American princesses" while assisting a Beverly Hills butler and caring for an aging millionaire who welcomes them into his mansion.
Halle Through The Years
'The Wedding'
In this 1998 television miniseries, directed by Charles Burnett and produced by Oprah Winfrey's Harpo Productions, Berry appears alongside Eric Thai and Lynn Whitfield in a story about marriage, race, and family set in Martha's Vineyard during the 1950s.

Jay Billington Bulworth (Beatty) as he runs for re-election. Berry plays Nina, a young campaigner who becomes involved with the rapping politician. Also featured in the film are Oliver Platt, Don Cheadle, Paul Sorvino, Jack Warden and Isaiah Washington.

Berry's career took off after she won an Emmy, Golden Globe, SAG Award and an NAACP Image Award for her role in the 1999 title film. The picture follows Dandridge's career through her early days on the club circuit with her sister to her turn in movies, which included becoming the first black actress nominated for an Academy Award for best actress in 1954's 'Carmen Jones.' The film also starred Brent Spiner Klaus Maria Brandauer, Obba Babatundé, Loretta Devine, Cynda Williams and LaTanya Richardson.
Halle Through The Years
Halle Berry
Berry is one hot mama – who's happily single. After two failed marriages, the beauty swore off tying the knot and vowed to create her own happily ever after. The Oscar winner recently called it quits with sexy model Gabriel Aubry, the father of her two-year-old daughter Nahla. Today, the superstar only wants to be cast in the role of her lifetime: being a phenomenal mom.
Whoopi Goldberg
Marriage is no laughing matter to this comedienne. After three unions that ended in divorce, the talented entertainer's hands are full with endorsement deals and hosting gigs – not husbands.
Angelina Jolie
The movie star is as well-known for her sex appeal as she is for being Brad Pitt's baby mama – six times over. Even with her supersized family, the talented actress, who is twice divorced, is in no rush to make it to the altar.
Oprah Winfrey
As one of the wealthiest women in the world, Oprah Winfrey can have anything she wants – obviously, a husband isn't on her list. The media mogul has spent the last three decades with beau Stedman Graham, but the pair has decided not to wed.
Cameron Diaz
There's definitely something about Cameron. The actress' captivating smile has mesmerized many. The blonde bombshell has dated hotties, such as pop star Justin Timberlake, but has yet to walk down the aisle. Could she be doing fine all by herself?
Barbara Walters
The famed journalist has earned a fortune working as a savvy TV reporter and producer for the last 50 years. There is only one event she doesn't plan to ever covering: her own wedding. The thrice married television icon is over saying "I do."
Padma Lakshmi
This 'Top Chef' host recently gave birth to her baby girl, Krishna, alleged love child of Adam Dell. Dell, brother of Dell Computers founder Michael Dell, wants to be in his daughter's life. Previously, Lakshmi had sought to keep the identity of the child's father a secret despite his high profile, so she must really feel comfortable raising her daughter alone.
Vivica Fox
After divorcing in 2002, Fox morphed into a cougar. She dated rap superstar 50 Cent and has often been seen on the prowl at Hollywood hot spots. Despite her obvious sex appeal, the only vow the actress has made is to focus on her career.

There's nothing wrong with being single....... these days men have so many Stupid women to choose from that the decent women get past up, because Stupid men wants to have their cake and eat it too and women who have it together WILL not Tolerate their BS...so Why bother...with so much estate.......sometimes it is better to stay single...you have all these diseases, Men on the DL, Men having 15 baby mammas. men who are abusers..etc....why put up with this mess.......
And what really so belittering is to say Black women are mostly single....you see Black women have LOW TOLERANCE for BS...you either got your s..togerther and and wanna settle down and do right or get the F...out! so it is not that we Want to be single...we don't want the DRAMA!......that some other races of women WILL PUT UP WITH.....

I don't know where you're from, but there are some states like here in Louisiana where men outnumber women, and you can have more choices to choose from. I feel the same way you do, but from a man's point of view towards a lot of women in this state.

Shelfish789 I feel the exact way you do. If a man is selfish and doesn't know His Place and How to Treat a Beautiful Strong Healthy Smart Woman, then he really doesn't deserve her at all bottom line. I just recently met a man who is seventy-six years OLD okay and this nutt bar acted as if he was sixteen and I mean a dumb sixteen. This is totally rediculous for a grown man of that age who doesn't even know the basic fundamentals of just plan manners okay. And I'm not talking being chilivrous and respectful, just basic etiquette. I truly do belive that so many undeserving women who have no manners or self esteem have really ruined it for us who do like to be and will accept nothing less, than to be respected and treated like a lady. Black men you most definitely need to come up and meet the mark, for there is no halfway mark when it comes to just plan old manners and respect for yourselves. So I choose to stay alone because I get so tired of seeing and having to tell a so-called man to open the door please, get my seat please, make reservations please, Think Please? That is the most humiliating thing I've ever had to do. And when you find a stupid ignorant man who does not know how to speak up and be a man, that gets old very quick. And it is just frustrating. He can have all the money in the world, but if he doesn't have any social graces and manners and dignity about himself he might as well be as poor as a church mouse. So I will remain single in order to stay away from the unneccessary drama! Whew!!

They all are a hot MESS. This is not good for the society. Young girls do not need to see this...They need to settle down somewhere and learn commitment and quick acting like hoes!

So these women are supposed to be the "gold standard" when it comes to dating and marriage?? Ok, they got money and looks (Whoopi has got half. Go figure which is it) but what is their spiritual fitness like? What is the content of their character and of their heart? Hollywood is the LAST place to base any marriage or any relationship off of!

Ok,(SMH) I get the whole...be single, get money, dont need a man to make your spot in this world, but if your going to tell the bright side, tell the dark side to.
The dark side being, your money and your single life cant stop you from getting HIV/AIDS,a broken heart, jumping from one man to the next, and possibly messing up your life spiritually, becuase of their chose to have premarital sex.Which can lead to an unwanted pregnancy,an STD,or death(it happens)
So BV,dont make it look like its all glitz and glam.Cause some of THOSE WOMEN you have on that list up there,is going through some DRAMA right now as we speak, because of a MAN !!!A MAN that Their NOT EVEN MARRIED TOO !!!!
So if you look at it,some of them are not really "HANDLING" their business, more like their "BUSINESS" is being put out there !!!
