Gary Coleman: Told Wife that All She Cares about is Money

Comments (6)

The death of Gary Coleman was sad for anyone who grew up watching him. It was not only sad to see Gary die, but it was even sadder to watch him transform from the cute little smiling child, into the graying, wrinkled and bitter middle aged man. From a recent interview with a therapist for his and his wife Shannon Price, it is easy to see that Gary is angry at the world and doesn't trust anyone. It also appears that one of the people he doesn't trust is his wife.

In the interview, Coleman goes out of his way to say that he thinks that Price is all about money and that she is like the rest of the world who wants to milk him like a cow. He expresses serious resentment against others, even his adoring fans, stating that they are "cheapskates" for wanting him to make appearances and then not paying him adequately for the work that he does.

Gary Coleman's life was both worthy of celebration and a complete tragedy. The ailment that kept him cute at the age of nine made it difficult for him to have adult relationships in his 20s and 30s. Even after death, there was a great deal of confusion, as the world is wondering if Coleman's wife played any role in seeing him into the afterlife, or whether she was audacious enough to actually sell photos of him on his death bed. It's all very, very sad to watch.

It would have been nice to see Gary learn how to love and trust again before he died. He seemed to have a difficult time dealing with the loss of his fame and fortune, and the fact that his parents went through $18 million dollars of his money certainly didn't help. The only thing worse than not having money is to have a lot of it and then lose it, so it almost seems that the kids from "Diff'rent Strokes" were given a prize that no one wanted. Personally, I would have given anything to be in Coleman's shoes in the 1980s, but I thank the Lord that I didn't have to be Gary.
