The 10 Worst Films of 2009
While 2009 produced several top-rate films, there were plenty that fell by the wayside. Here's a look back at some the worst movies of 2009.
The 10 Worst Films of 2009
10: 'Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen'
One of the problems that Michael Bay has as a director is that he overdoes when it comes to sequels. Remember the 'Bad Boys' franchise? When 'Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen' opened up, moviegoers lined up to see their favorite characters back on screen, but after nearly three hours of little dialogue and even less action, the scenes became repetitive and tiresome.

9. 'The Box'
Any film starring Cameron Diaz should attract audiences, but when 'The Box' couldn't muster any buzz at San Diego Comic Con, it seemed likely to arrive DOA. Diaz and James Marsden star as a couple who receive a box from a mysterious man who offers them $1 million if they press a button sealed within its dome. The film opened with dismal reviews and grossed a paltry $7 million at the box office.

8. 'Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Lin'
This film was a disaster from the start. With no names to promote this action-packed thriller, 'Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Lin,' arrived in theaters and it seemed no one noticed. Not even Black Eyed Peas member Taboo could bring a crowd.

7. 'Next Day Air'
What happens when a studio wants to distribute a film that should have gone straight-to-DVD? Try 'Next Day Air,' a movie about two inept criminals who are mistakenly delivered a package of cocaine, an event that triggers a series of events that changes 10 people's lives forever. With comedians as Mike Epps and Donald Faison, one would expect nonstop laughs, but audiences were treated to lewd and crass jokes that fell short of funny. For music video director Benny Boom, it's best to stick to your day job.

6. 'Fighting'
Since he lost his role as Tony Starks' wingman Jim Rhodes in the 'Iron Man' films, Terrence Howard hasn't found his groove. Released a year after filming, and directed by Dito Montiel, the flick follows a young counterfeiter who is introduced to the world of underground street fighting by a seasoned scam artist. This testosterone-fueled movie finds star Channing Tatum and Howard in unbelievable circumstances and is one of the year's most somber films.

5. 'Miss March'
Fox Searchlight had the audacity to green-light 'Miss March,' a sex comedy about a young man who awakens from a four-year coma to hear that his once virginal high-school sweetheart is featured as a centerfold in a men's magazine. He and his sex-crazed best friend decide to take a cross-country road trip to crash a party at the magazine's legendary mansion headquarters to win back the girl. The film, which has some of the lewdest, lamest jokes ever told, was universally panned.

4. 'Whiteout'
After being delayed for more than a year, 'Whiteout' should've remained shelved. Directed by Dominic Sena, the movie stars Kate Beckinsale as U.S. Marshal Carrie Stetko sent to Antarctica to track a killer as the sun is about to set for six months. The movie also features Gabriel Macht and Columbus Short. Filled with awful dialogue and genre clichés, it received terrible reviews and only grossed $10 million.

3. 'The Pink Panther 2'
With Beyonce as the female lead, 2006's 'Pink Panther' was a reboot of the series that grossed a decent $82 million at the box office. Three years later and no Grammy winner attached, the sequel, 'The Pink Panther 2' lacked sparks, comedy and substance. The last flick in the franchise grossed a dismal $35 million.

2. 'The Limits of Control'
Director Jim Jarmusch is known for his small independent film such as 'Dead Man' with Johnny Depp and 'Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai' with Forest Whitaker. When it comes to casting, he knows how to get big names attached to his pictures. But his last film, 'The Limits of Control,' left much to be desired. Starring Isaach De Bankolé as a lone wolf criminal undertaking a job in Spain, the film, which featured cameos from Bill Murray, Tilda Swinton and Gael Garcia, felt painfully slow. It didn't help that it received poor reviews.

C'mon people, ain't nothing changed but the date. We put too much faith in politrickers/pastors, and the love of money, which seems to mask the racism thats still in existence.

Bengals Baby: It's the context in which he used the N word. The 10 black men you're talking about use it as a term of belonging (I don't agree with it) - NOT as an insult.
But of course, you knew this...right???

I'm more interested in how eventually, Mel Gibson wound up paying a price for his anti-jewish comments (which I believe is the real crime he is catching heat for, however delayed his punishment)
and how conveniently black people have been used ONCE AGAIN as the reason that another famous white person is being slammed for calling us names
building up white resentment over our "special treatment" while conveniently rooting out those who do not like Jews...
all of which makes not ONE dent in white racism against blacks, in fact, it creates more white hostility...and another distraction from the ones who really benefited..
real slick...

We all must be judge by our higher God and here we all are trying to judge Mel. We all say things out of turn when were're mad. NO ONE KNOW's WHAT SHE DID TO THIS MAN TO CAUSE HIM TO REACT THIS WAY. We're only hearing one side of the story. There's always (2) sides to any story. I'm sure Mel didn't mean to say the (N) word. We as africain Americans deals with this language everyday from regular people on the streets. Do we try and go after them? (NO). I'm not saying what he said was right, but we must realize he was pushed over the edge. That doesn't mean he's prejustice for using the word. She may have told him a story about a lot of black men trying to do something in that manner to her and he brought it all out that way. . Give Mel a break. His heart has been broken by whatever took place with him and this woman. I'm a Africian American woman and I know how a woman can push a man over the edge. Mel doesn't deserved to be framed as it appears with her getting all the confessions from him and she's the good one here. Assess the entire situation before making a judgement call. Give Mel time to makeup for what took place and move on. Mel is a great actor and he deserves better treatment then being Judged by us as human beings. There are woman who abuse men and try and frame them to make them out to be the bad guy. I often feel sorry for some of our men out there. I don't condone what he did. We just need to step back and allow God to handle the situation for the best to work itself out.
Be Blessed

DJ, if you are that dumb that you actually think the context in which Mel used this word, was not applying to black men in general, you are a disgrace to all we who marched, bled, died, fell stood and stand for. You are an apologist who chooses to deny rather than denounce. It is a way to avoid taking a stand against wrong and subliminal cowardice. It defines far too many black men today who are nothing like those brave proud warriors we marched with only a few decades ago. With only a few exceptions, today's black male is a pygmy compared to the giants like Malcolm who took on more than an institution, they took on the ideology that bred it. Worse than the perpetrator are today's enablers. CONTEXT defines CONTENT! Gibson told his girlfriend, Uksana on the tape: "if you get raped by a bunch of N---rs, it is your fault"...that is in keeping with the traditional stereotype of the black man who rapes, steals, kills, does drugs, etc. This goes back to the post plantation image fostered by the Willie Lynch mindset and Jim Crow. It has not changed its nature, only its process. Sexism and racism are twin branches of the same tree. The tree is oppression. The illusion of the 80's and 90's and the magic show that has kept us spellbound is being exposed by the reality of a collapsing world. It is joke. Those who choose to forget the past will be condemned to repeat it. Wake up!

I do not take any pleasure in listening to anyone who uses derogitory names to another person whether that individual is black, red, caucasian or any other mixture that there are in this world or universe; nor the gender of sex that person is or has become. There is so much hate and trouble in this world that instead of labeling anyone try aiding and assisting to make someone a better person . I know that many people refuse to help others because of various beliefs that have been planted since birth or having accustomed to their livings.
One wonders if the Masiaha will ever come to this world with all of these problems that exist in this universe. If one day ...if everyone was to one time be nice to someone..just one day

It is funny that he never treated his previous wife the way Oksana is claiming. I heard the tapes and was disappointed, but I think she provoked him. When did she start recording? Maybe after she said something she knew would “set him off” to “set him up”. And, this was not days of recordings (at least that is my understanding). This all happened on the same day. And the mark on the baby’s face, good grief anyone who has had babies knows babies have little pimple things come up on their face all the time; you just have to keep it cleaned so it doesn’t get too irrated. The picture was a joke to me and proved nothing of child abuse. I also think some of the things on the tapes were misunderstood in context; which again I think she munipulated. I think Mel was talking about one thing and she brought up something else to tie it in. Also in one tape I thought I heard Mel say something about her hitting him? Did anyone else catch that?
