The rapper
Rick Ross has finally decided to respond to the $10 million lawsuit filed by Freeway Ricky Ross, the former Los Angeles drug dealer who claims that Ross stole his name and likeness, making millions at his expense.
"We just gonna let the people deal with that," rapper Rick Ross said to
AllHipHop.com. "It's like owning a restaurant, you're gonna have a few slip and falls. You get lawsuits, you deal with them, and get them out your way... sometimes you lose."
It appears that Rick's actions are adjusting in response to the charges in the lawsuit, as he has made a subtle move to change his name to "Ricky Rozay," which he used during the BET Awards this year.

"That's my Twitter name, so hit me up on Twitter @RickyRozay. I just got on Twitter so shout out to all my followers," said Ross.
The real Ricky Ross, the drug dealer who just finished a 20-year sentence for cocaine trafficking, discussed Ross' behavior during a recent interview with Fox News Channel 11 in Los Angeles:
"I did 20 years in prison and beaucoups of money went into making this name and what it is today. I feel it was mine, I own it and I want it back," he said. "It's mine. It's like if somebody stole your car, even though they painted it and put wheels on it that they like, it's still your car."
Freeway Ricky Ross has a point on this issue. I am certainly not an attorney, but it doesn't appear to be a coincidence that the other Rick Ross decided to use this particular name. I'm not completely sure why he would do that, other than to rely on the fact that the name Rick Ross evokes particular emotions in those who are familiar with the notorious drug dealer. The same could be said about names like Scarface or Pablo Escobar.
Rick Ross' decision to use someone else's name also has a disturbing correlation with the allegation that Rick Ross is always pretending to be someone he's not. What remains true in hip hop is that the black community would benefit dramatically if artists would find something other than drug dealers to emulate in their behavior. The life of a drug dealer is never as glamorous as rappers make it out to be. It typically ends in either death or long prison sentences. Rather than training little black boys to deal drugs or engage in criminal behavior, it might make more sense to make them equally enthusiastic about obtaining an education. That's where the real money gets made, and it's safe money too.

The article just read is on the money. For sure our(Black People-not just children) emulated the rapper life, which coincides with the prison life Who really wants to be either, a prisoner or a drug dealer But, the life emulates money, fame and bad bot life. Stupid but, true Education is the best way to go. If these rappers would tell the stories with more of real life the black life may change to a more positive life I am tired of the use of the word "NIGGER", that is used more by the HISPANIC than anyone else. Let's stop being stupid, showing our stupidity and show our intelligence, which is what the old railroad, Harriett Tubman crew did. How can a whole group of or a new group of young people be so damned dumb and call themselves such a negative word. Wear clothing exposing themselves (their butt, and just be dumb as hell The white people love it and you dumb assess don't even get it Stop the stupidity!!!!

Commenting on the name usage. All of our names are really names given to us from slavery. None of the names that we have any way are ours. just handed down from what they slave master who owned our ancestors had. So to change a name like William or Tom, and or Robert would be a move to get away from our very exisitance as what was given to our ancestors.

His real name is William Leonard Roberts II, why don't he just make a stage name out of his real name like "Will Rob" or "Lenny Rob" or Big Bill Roberts and shorten it to "BBR", I'm gonna need a commission for these suggestions big guy.

Sorry...who cares. Its a stage name. You don't see Al Pacino suing Scarface over naming rights, etc. Unless Freeway Ricky had copyrights on that name, he has full legal right to use it. It's the real world and these rappers need to start doing things legitimately and stop "oh you stole my toy" type of arguments. So petty! But I think Rick Ross' whole decision to change to 'Rozay' was out of fear alone...one of the most notorious drug dealers is barking at you, I wouldn't want to see his bite either!

The outlaw life has always been the the subject of folklore, songs and movies. What is glamous and exciting about living a conventional and boring life. While being a doctor or lawyer is a safe and rewarding life there are very few books and movies made about them. Come to think of there is little written about the life of writers Dr Boyce either. While your intentions are good you are not being realistic. Your article is about a famous drug dealer that most kids in the black community have heard of but can you name a famous doctor that most kids have heard of.
Drugs are a fact of life in all communities in America and just as we need our law abiding citizens we need our heroic gangsters as well. Al Capone, John Gotti, Bugsey Seigel, Luck Luciano and Joe Kennedy are names that will live in American history forever. These are Jewish ,Italian, and white criminals that have made ther mark in American crime. While I renounce criminal activity we do know that a certain percentage of our children are going to choose that life style. Should not they have someone to emulate.

You know nothing about the law as it pertains to this case. Your ignorance in this matter is laughable to say the least. Ricky Ross the drug dealers legal name(government name) does not have to be copyrighted to be protected by the law. If you every become famous and a fat rapper uses your legal name for his profit see how you like it. You would be suing also.

But Ricky Ross was a name given to Ricky Ross the drug dealer also. So what does it matters. Both guys are being praised for drug activity and drug talk. So it really does not matter. Are you going to make a rap album talking about education and if you do lets see how long it takes for kids not people to catch on and i'm not talking about pre-K through elementary my dear boy
