Mr. Ogunlesi's purchase of the Gatwick airport is just another in a long line of impressive achievements. After graduating from England's Oxford University, Mr. Ogunlesi attended Harvard Law School, where he obtained a law degree and an MBA. Upon graduating from Harvard, he earned a prestigious clerkship with the late Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall. He followed that up by practicing law at a major corporate firm for a while, before eventually joining Credit Suisse First Boston in 1983. While helping to turn around the then struggling investment bank, he rose to the position of Executive Vice Chairman.
According to The Network Journal, when Ogunlesi first started his private equity firm in 2006 (with funding from various sources, including General Electric and Credit Suisse), he was the first black man to head a private equity firm in London's financial district (referred to as "The City").
I applaud Mr. Ogunlesi on his success thus far, and wish him much continued success in the future. Being "the first" to represent a group of people in any area of expertise can be an overwhelming experience, especially in the super-competitive financial sector. Although ideally every individual would be given the benefit of the doubt regarding his or her competency to perform in a particular field, we know this is not always the case. Every success story such as this provides further evidence (to those who need it) that when given equal opportunity, black men and women (from any country) can excel at the highest level in any industry.
Hopefully the success of Adebayo Ogunlesi will further open the doors for other black men and women to achieve high levels success in the financial industry, in London, the U.S., and all other areas.

He's not the only Black Private Equity Boss operating in the UK. I can think of two others:
- Damon Buffini, he was the head of Permira, and currently holds the position of Chairman.
- Wol Kolade, is the Managing Partner of ISIS Equity Partners.

alie,
Stop watching/listening to propaganda news. It takes two to be a crook. If a person is seating in their livingroom on a computer in another continent and believe that a total stranger they never met in another continent will make them an instant millionaire without working for it, and have the audacity to show their face on national/international TV crying foul???.....who's the crook here? Just take it this way, two crooks got into a crooked business and the better and smarter crook won! I think it's a shame how the american media and the citizens of this country justifies this criminal act that is committed by some greedy people here in the states, and actually believe they're victims...SMH

Well said Sam. I think am aware of what alie is eluding to. I watched a CBS program of the scam he was refering to.
Alie is just another dumb person like these so called victims.
I received what looks like a genuine check from India. It gave an instruction on how to process the check and how to siphon part of the proceeds back to India. Well, if I did, I won't be posting a comment today.
How can you be so dumb as to fall prey to a person you never met and you never transacted any legal business with to begin with. And the person is asking you to first remit a sum of $10k before giving you your share of $200,000k. How can you be so gullible?
All people involved including the so called victim should rot in jail.

Not surprised the least. If I am not mistaken, quite a few years back, Margaret Thatcher came to his defence after immigration and other issues were raised about him.

"Also crooks & scams" Alie? Why single-out only Nigerians? When are you going to point out that "crooks & scams" are also found amongst Jews,US "Whites",Europeans,Indians,Chinese etc etc
