As most of you are probably aware,
Fantasia has been getting some unwanted (I think) publicity for her affair with a married man. The fact that Fantasia was involved with married man,
Antwaun Cook, has been a pretty frequent discussion topic on various gossip sites for the past year; however, it seems that being a focus of the divorce proceedings was such a shock to Fantasia that she attempted suicide. Fantasia might even be more shocked to realize that, now that she has, thankfully, recovered, she could be facing an
alienation of affection lawsuit for coming between a man and his wife.
First and foremost, let me say that I am glad that Fantasia failed in her attempt at suicide
and is doing better. Although we may disagree with her actions (or alleged actions) with a married man, suicide is not the answer. She is a mother, and it would have been devastating to her child and the rest of her family and friends if she had succeeded in her suicide attempt. But now, Fantasia has to face the repercussions of her alleged affair, which are financial in addition to being emotional.
North Carolina is one of only a handful of states that still allows alienation of affection lawsuits. These types of lawsuits (which have been eliminated in most states and are considered antiquated by many) are aimed at punishing those who participate in an affair with a person they know to be married. In North Carolina, the three elements of proof that support an alienation of affection claim are:
1. The marriage entailed love between the spouses in some degree
2. The spousal love was alienated and destroyed
3. The defendant's (in this case, that would be Fantasia) malicious conduct contributed to or caused the loss of affection.
I don't believe for one moment that Fantasia didn't know this man was married, and I also don't believe that Antwaun Cook was separated from his wife, Paula, during the time he and Fantasia were dating. Concerning the possible alienation of affection lawsuit that Fantasia may be facing, the official date of separation is of vital importance, because conduct that takes place before the separation date is considered completely relevant to proving the claim. If Paula Cook can prove that most of the affair occurred before the married pair separated, she could be in for a big payday.

Conduct that occurs after the separation date is considered relevant only as it corroborates conduct that took place prior to the separation date. Given this, it should come as no surprise that Fantasia's married boyfriend is claiming that he and his wife separated early last year, while his wife claims that they only separated a couple of months ago.
If Fantasia is ultimately sued for alienation of affection, it could have a devastating impact on her pocketbook. There have been several large awards granted in these cases in North Carolina, including a case involving one mistress who was ordered to pay $5 million in compensatory damages and $4 million in punitive damages (
Wowowow.com). As
Fantasia has had serious money issues in the recent past, an alienation of affection lawsuit could obliterate her financially just as she's beginning to get back on her feet.
Fantasia is in a terrible situation no matter how it plays out, especially given all the children that are involved. For Fantasia, even without the potential for financial loss from a lawsuit, the damage that is being done to her image is likely to cost her in a variety of ways, ranging from losing projects to dropped endorsements. This will be especially true if certain evidence is presented at the divorce and/or alienation of affection trials, such as an rumored sex tape that she made with her married lover. In addition, lawyers' fees for these two cases will cost a pretty penny.
Hopefully, this situation will be a learning experience not only for Fantasia, but all men and women out there who are involved or would consider getting involved with a married person. Even if you don't live in North Carolina, it can cost you in ways that you may not be ready for.

first off i do not condone what fantasia did; however, mr. cook should be at fault as well and have to do some type of paying because for 1, how would the 'sex tape' get out. another thing, i dont believe for one that this the cooks have been living together, did we not see the 'cook tat'? which is now covered...ummm. and now all of a sudden, now that fantasia is getting her career rolling and after digging for info to come up on some money. she now wants to sue her. my thing is this, if her case is so substantiate, she shoulda sued when the 'cook tat' came about.. i bet any money paula will forge the papers some way to have it showing that the two separated way after fantasia and him started dating.

I believe Fantasia was set up by Cook & his wife for financial gain. How the hell do you let your wife get a hold of a sex tape made by you & another woman, hmmmmmm like the saying goes what goes around comes around. Even if Fantasia knew (which I believe she didn't) he was still legally married he is the one who took the marriage vows so sue him. I don't think Fantasia would put her career on the line to be exposed in such a way! I bet if Fantasia & her lawyer was to make a offer to this woman, she would take it & run with it & Cook wouldn't be far behind her. This is nothing but a legal case of blackmail! I hope this woman gets nothing but her cheating a$$ husband back! Go scam someone us, trick!

I heard it on the news last summer that Fantasia was dating a married man , And she replied that they was just friends . Was that true then ?
I also know that no one really knows what goes on with a man / his wife. They could be seperated today , On the other hand they are still sleeping togeather or dating each other . A married man can lead a mistress to New-Deli & back .We as women get angry when we are singel / find out our man has been cheating & it is not right .Because eash one are free to do as they pleasa. So when you are married you has legal papers on each other . I think it should stand up in a court of law .No woman has the right to spread her wings to another woman husband , i know they do it all the time , that don't make it right .We as black peopep need to take our marriage more searious , there ar to many broken homes, a child nee a mom and dad to raise their children . I am for family. I read some comments about her taking her family , that is okay as long as they are not trying to use her .
I beleive in strong family we stand up / help each other . That what's wrong in the black family today , we don't have enough love for one another& it is tearing the family apart . You see I am from old school . Blessing to you all.

Paula and Cook need to take a look in the mirror. They have issues and it doesn't begin with fantasia. They need to know that there is a God and what they are doing to Fantasia will come back to them worse.
What real women would allow her husband/man to be with another women for gain, and this went on for how long.
Fantasia be strong, there are people who has been scorned by the ones who confess love and then leave.
Never never put a man before God, your daughter, or yourself. Stay strong. I been there, so has others.

I believe that Fantasia is innocent in this situation. I belive the response she made that she was not informed of the marrital status of Mr Cook. I believe that Mr. Cook witheld this information from her intentially. I feel that he had motives and saw that Fantasia be the sacegoat for his cause. She took the bait, you know there are men and women out there that are not totally honest in the beginning of their relationship. Women want to be loved and in a loving relationship with the man they choose. This is a hurting situation no matter how it goes, someone will be hurt. I love you Fantasia and I will contuinue to pray that you strength and regain your health, trust God as you were raised to do, justice will prevail in this situation, truth is liberating. Mrs Paula I pray that you will rethink this decison because afterall Mr Cook may have willfully got envolved with Fantasia knowing he was married. I know that you are angry who wouldn't be but make sure you have the facts before you proceed. I pray that God will heal your heart and give you the answers to go forth. Time and love heals all wounds. We must be willing to forgive in order to be heal ourselves.Shalom....

He told Fantasia they were separated. But separated doesn't mean divorced so he was still married. I totally blame the husband. Too many times we tend to blame the other woman. He was playing both of them. Telling the wife one thing and Fantasia another. He needs to bare some of this because if he hadn't approached Fantasia this wouldn't have happened.

So let me get this right..the guy forgot he was married and started dating Fantasia or dated her knowing he was married. So Fantasia is supposedly wrong because he "forgot" he was married and stepped out on his wife?
Could it be that he and his wife are out to ruin her career? This is a ruthless business.
If they kill Michael Jackson and make it look like a mistake..what do you think they can do to her? What a coincidence this happens before her cd drops.
