The state of the economy was the reason that Obama was elected, and it is also the reason he may not be re-elected. During the election when the economy crashed, Americans realized that it doesn't make sense to have a president (John McCain) who admitted that he knows nothing about the economy by supporting the tactics of Bush. So, Obama became their hero to lead them through dark times.
Like many of the first black college football coaches, Obama is being allowed to run the team that nobody wants. The economy is in it's worst shape in decades, and with every new bad piece of economic news, people are looking to pin it on the president. It doesn't help, however, that the president has economic advisors like Lawrence Summers from Harvard, who are simply unqualified for the job. Nobel Prize winner Paul Krugman would have been a far better choice.
According to the most recent Rasmussen Poll, only 27 percent of all voters strongly approve of the way President Obama is running the country. Another 44 percent of Americans strongly disapprove. Additionally, voters now trust Republicans more than Democrats on nearly every important issue for our country. This is bad news for Obama and bad news for his party.
Making matters worse for Obama is the recent adjustment in economic data, now claiming that the economy only grew by 1.6 percent last quarter. This is a modification from the previous estimate of 2.4 percent. Even the prior assessment of the economy earned Obama quite a bit of criticism, while the new data will surely make his critics that much bolder.
In some ways, President Obama is in the same shape as Tiger Woods. When Tiger is winning, America thinks he's Superman. When he's losing, he's just another unqualified black man. President Obama was the golden goose of the Democratic Party a little over a year ago, and now he's the goose that has political salmonella. While Obama won't publicly admit that racism plays a role in how people perceive him, I am sure he sees it every single day.
The only hope for the president is that the economy will recover at some point. When it does, Obama can position himself to take all the credit. One has to wonder, however, how the results of the mid-term elections are going to impact his ability to be effective when having to deal with so many Republicans who hate his guts. It's going to be a long two years for the president, so if you have his back, you might want to make sure you get out and vote.

The President is doing a great job, he has done more in one year then the last president did in eight years. Come on people, if he was a white president doing what he has done, he would be the best, but he is not white. It's funny, the more things change, the more it stay the same. May God Bless all of us,

The playing of the race card is getting AWFULLY tiresome. People are fed up with FAILURE, and failure doesn't have a race.

Wiser words have never been spoken. Ditto. The article compared the president with Tiger Woods. The only similiarity I see are two black men, one who was the first on a golf course in America and the other first Black man in the white house, both have shaken up the world by proving they are supermen! With President Obama, they're pissed off everytime he succeeds, and pissed off everytime they try and stop and loses. I know they're frustrated because they cannot win against this man no matter how hard they try.
That's why the president is working hard to please the real Americans in this countlry, his wife and his two beautiful daughters. To hell with these pagens. [the media, Sarah Palin and her zombie tea party, republicans, racist and the like]. and may I add "GOD BLESS AMERICA"

Running America is way above Obama's paygrade. He was and is unqualified for the job. Period. For all the racist idiots who say idioctic things like: "they don't want him to succed", "they are realizing they have a black president" the republicans are at fault"...may I remind you that it was "they" who voted him in office. Black people make up 13% of the population, there's no way he could have become president on the black vote alone. So get over this racist "they" thing. He is just not doing a good job, but you won't admit that because he is black. You are the racists.

I totally agree with you Mike: "By: Mike on 8/27/2010 2:54PM The President is doing a great job, he has done more in one year then the last president did in eight years. Dr. Boyce Watkins you really ought to not compare our President, a man of an upstanding nature to Tiger Woods. Tiger is failing becasue of his own choices not becasue he does not have the know-how but because he let himself down in one of the worst scandals to hit the news. Its not that he is not popular it is becasue they felt he brought shame to the sport.
Watkins you are starting to sound like Glen Beck and the GOP Tea Partiers. Do you really have to sound off that way. Its bolocks. I am unemployed for two going on three years. I have had five job interviews in the last three months. This is the first time I have felt like I am going to be ok.
So shut it Watkins! If you are not going to stay on the Positive and stop being a mouthpiece for negativity and divisiveness, write about basket weaving or something where you are not spreading poison.
God Bless you Mike and all the positive people out there. And another thing Watkins, when a person standup and do the right thing, its never popular just remember it was not popular for Dr. Martin Luther King, JR to lead the Civil Rights March and preach about UNITY of the Races, but he did and it brought you here to speak that rubbish freely. REMEMBER THAT.

Are you serious? Stop using the "Black" issue as a excuse as to why is numbers suck. it wasn't a "Black" issue when the majority voted him in under the false pretense of changing the way washington did things. This is NOT a race issue, It's a shitty preformance issue, People are sick of him Lieing to the people and pushing his socialism when we dont want social government. He's been on the wrong side (against public opinion) of every major issue he has supported since he was elected. The majority didn't want healthcare, Cap and scam, the stimulas that didn't do anything except drive our kids into debt, He supported building a muslim religious center on ground zero, and the list goes on. Black, white, mexican, pink it doesn't matter because all these idiots are getting kicked out of office in a couple months and in 2012 because they are INCOMPETENT and CORUPT.. BOTH DEMS AND REPS Simple as that.

I am so sick and tired of these white folks blaming Obama for their shit and please do not forget who put us in the situation in the first place. This is all about hate. But their arms are too short to fight with God. Here is a chance to get our country together and yet those racist ass white GOP have done nothing but say no. But you know it was no only black people that they did not want to extend unemployment to, it was white people too. I pray that all black people get out and vote in the primary. If not we are all going to turn from sugar to shit.
