The state of the economy was the reason that Obama was elected, and it is also the reason he may not be re-elected. During the election when the economy crashed, Americans realized that it doesn't make sense to have a president (John McCain) who admitted that he knows nothing about the economy by supporting the tactics of Bush. So, Obama became their hero to lead them through dark times.
Like many of the first black college football coaches, Obama is being allowed to run the team that nobody wants. The economy is in it's worst shape in decades, and with every new bad piece of economic news, people are looking to pin it on the president. It doesn't help, however, that the president has economic advisors like Lawrence Summers from Harvard, who are simply unqualified for the job. Nobel Prize winner Paul Krugman would have been a far better choice.
According to the most recent Rasmussen Poll, only 27 percent of all voters strongly approve of the way President Obama is running the country. Another 44 percent of Americans strongly disapprove. Additionally, voters now trust Republicans more than Democrats on nearly every important issue for our country. This is bad news for Obama and bad news for his party.
Making matters worse for Obama is the recent adjustment in economic data, now claiming that the economy only grew by 1.6 percent last quarter. This is a modification from the previous estimate of 2.4 percent. Even the prior assessment of the economy earned Obama quite a bit of criticism, while the new data will surely make his critics that much bolder.
In some ways, President Obama is in the same shape as Tiger Woods. When Tiger is winning, America thinks he's Superman. When he's losing, he's just another unqualified black man. President Obama was the golden goose of the Democratic Party a little over a year ago, and now he's the goose that has political salmonella. While Obama won't publicly admit that racism plays a role in how people perceive him, I am sure he sees it every single day.
The only hope for the president is that the economy will recover at some point. When it does, Obama can position himself to take all the credit. One has to wonder, however, how the results of the mid-term elections are going to impact his ability to be effective when having to deal with so many Republicans who hate his guts. It's going to be a long two years for the president, so if you have his back, you might want to make sure you get out and vote.

I did not support Obama, altho I have nothing against him. Why do you waste a lot energy fighting him on everything he does? I felt that it wasn't the time for a black President, after the previous President left such a mess and debt. After the mess had been cleaned up he could've run and I feel he would've been better. Because every thing that is wrong, he would be blamed for it,even tho he wasn't the one that created the issues. Such as the unecssary war.

Only 13% of the US population is black, so even if every black person voted for Obama, it still would not have been enough to elect him.
He won because a lot of WHITE PEOPLE voted for him in the hope he could fix what's wrong with this country. So how is it that many of you are now saying "its racism" that so few people still like him? Evidently a lot of WHITE PEOPLE voted for a BLACK man for president!
You cannot have it both ways, folks! Its time to grow up, stop looking to place blame on "racism" or elsewhere and admit that Obama has been a dismal failure.

Correction Anita, more people of COLOR voted for President Obama not just whites. This country is becoming a melting pot of ethnicity, so there are becoming more people of color in this country then ever before. The white race is becoming the minority, but don't become fearful as some of your people have ie, Teabaggers, Birthers, we can all just get along without republicans who proliferate RACISM in everything thing they do, and not just racisim, because they don't care about anyone who doesn't look like them or think like them.

I could not agree with you more. A vast majority of white people voted for Obama. We all wanted a change. Under Bush we were sliding head long into a recession.
Now Obama is President. Things in our country continue to crumble. Everybody better wake up and ban together. Stop saying democrates this, or repulicans that. White men this or white men that.
We as a united people of all colors, have got to step up and take control. Our government is running this country into the ground. Arguing over who is worse, Bush or Obama, does absolutely nothing to solve things in this country.
Way to many corrupt politicians. Yet, hey if we all keep fighting each other, they win we lose. I would hope America would wake up and stop putting up with this BS.

I for one didn't vote for the man. God is using him. He is using him as a bad example of a leader. Good leaders of the past has spent alot of time in the oval office talking to God in the name of Jesus. Obama has claimed that our country isn't a Christian nation. He did away with the national day of prayer, not that Christians don't pray daily. He replaced it with a group of Muslims praying in the back of the White house and he was praying with them. Our country can not at this time pay for the medical insurance that he believes every American should have. Even though Our country could have some change for the better more people from other countries comes to our country for medical help. It will come to the point that you may have the insurance but you will not have the availability of a doctor in time. Someone stated that he has done more for us in the last year than the last president has in the last 8 years if he or she is speaking of putting us deeper in debt than any other president than that is right. The man was more concerned for having the olympics in our country than he was being concerned about our troops in the middle east. Our country has alway been friends with Israel President obama isn't backing Israel at all. I will also say that God is using him to get the world ready for the returning of Jesus Christ. Yes our nation is divided it seems that a few million people are getting smarter to the point that if election was this week that we would have a republican. I feel sorry for anyone that would have to clean up this mess.

The President is doing an excellent job as president. When he became president he said that it would take a while for the economy to improve.
There are some white people, who know that he is doing an excellent job. There are some black people who think he is not doing an good job. As an unemployed person, I feel that he is doing the best job of any president, we have ever had.

With the truth being an absolute defense to a lie, rather than being worried about "re-election", Mr. President should become Preisdential and spend more time in Washington, D.C.
He should also read the bills being passed, and he should realize that he was elected President and not king of America.
In addition, he rode into the White House on the
backs of people of color who believed in his repetitive rhetoric and then discarded the coat.
There are no African Americans with any real decision making authority in his cabinet, and he overlooked well qualified African American jurists with proven expereince when he made his two Supreme Court appointments.
And to those among us who seem to feel that we should not criticize or ask questions of Mr. President because he is "Black", then I ask you--If a black man robbed you and burglarized your home, would you tell the police not to arrest the criminal simply because he was black? I don't think so.
In reality, America showed a willingness and movement forward by putting aside race and electing a man who was considered at that time, the best candidate.
However, and setting race aside, Mr. President has shown inexperience, arrogance, and indeference to people of color, and people on the low economic ladder will begin feeling the brunt of all of the legislation that has been passed but will not begin being implemented until 2013. More specifically, wake up time is going to be dramatic.
In my opinion Mr. President has deliberately kept the "race-card" in play to distract us from what is really going on, and sometime I wonder if Al Capone is lurking around the White House, the Halls of Congress, and somewhere in Washington, D.C.
Why were approximately 189,000 student work-study jobs cut? Why will the recent economic bill signed by Mr. President be funded by cutting food stamp beginning in 2013? Why has Mr. President signed off on education bills that are mere experiments from the Harvard Education Lab and will further prevent teachers from actually teaching because of the administrative paperwork aspects of the programs?
In fact, why is it that everytime an African American questions or criticizes the President we are cursed out and belittled for daring to speak out of the box which says that we are like slaves-we are to be seen but not heard.
There are also those who consistently remind us that Mr. President is half white and half black. Well, to this I say that I have seen his white behind and I have yet to see the black one emerge.
Mr. President is the worst President that I have seen in my lifetime. He is covertly divisive, he cannot give a speech without a teleprompter, and he is also like a weak child on the playground who thinks that he has to apease everyone so that they can all be his friends.
I am also tired of blaming George Bush for everything. In fact, it has gotten to the point that last week as I walked my dog through the park I observed some little children playing and three of them started cutting up and being destructive. When their mothers asked who had broken a certain toy, one of the little boys yelled out--"George Bush did it."
So, before trying to run for re-election, Mr. President needs to reassess what he has done in the present, because he has been so busy fund raising, campaigning, vacationing, and golfing, that he has forgotten that his job is in Washjington, D.C.
Mr. President has no knowledge of the military and he should also stop bowing to other leaders, and he has made us the laughing stock of the world.
So curse me out. I don't care. I have an African American Independent voice and the truth being an absolute defense to a lie sometimes hurt those who believe that we should think with a gang-like mentality and believe everything that our political pimps tell us.
