The Labor Department said Friday that the unemployment rate held at 9.6 percent last month. The jobless rate has now topped 9.5 percent for 14 straight months, the longest stretch since the 1930s.
The private sector added 64,000 jobs, the weakest showing since June.
The African-American unemployment rate dipped slightly from 16.3 to 16.1 percent, with black female unemployment moving from 13.2 to 12.6 percent. However, it rose for men age 20 and over and black teen unemployment jumped 4 points to nearly 50 percent.

Local governments cut 76,000 jobs last month, most of them in education. That's the largest cut by local governments in 28 years. And, 77,000 temporary census jobs ended in September.
Nearly 14.8 million people were unemployed last month. That's almost 100,000 fewer than in August.
The report is the final one before the November elections, which means members of Congress will face voters next month with a jobless rate near double digits.

I can solve the problems of black unemploym,ent in 2 seconds jsut demand that allthese so called atheltes and entertainers put factories in their communities first and hire only those from the communities. where all the factories making jordans and rocafellas not in the hood but in Asia and latin America. we need to produce our own jobs and get oruselves together. Lebron James Chris bosh and Dwayne Wade jsut signed for 500 million $ with the miami heat but did not produce one job inthe black community why?

You nailed it. Let us not buy a 16yr old a $400,000k car for a gift. Tell the 16yr old 'I will buy you a house for your 21st and on condition that you gain an admission to Yale, Havard, or Princeton'.

Chinese created China town in all major cities of United states. They put businesses in the community and employs their own. They created banks and loan to other chinese to start investment. The Mexicans emulated them. Give loans to Brothas and sisthas, and we spend on Bentleys, Maybachs, Jags, Hummers. It's like Escalades and Chrysler 300 were made for Blacks.
Tommy Hilfiger lives in an estate black people dare not roam. And who buys his collections?
You do not need yellow pages to locate chinese restaurants. It is all over black neighborhoods. At the close of business, chinese people will esconce into an estate a black person dare not roam.
From the moment we step out of our house to shop at WalMart and Targets, we are dependent on white people's establishments. Let us thank white person for making this dialogue on BV and AOL possible.
Tell our civil rights leaders and NAACP to stop carrying placards and get serious.
